A healthy nation is a wealthy nation

A HEALTHY nation is a wealthy nation. Good health costs almost nothing beyond good hygiene, clean water, regular physical activity, good food and safety conscious living.

In the past year, Eswatini has been in uproar over a series of crises of low efficiency and ineffectiveness yet paid billions of emalangeni in expenditure that has failed to address the nation’s development goals.

What would happen if no one came to the hospitals because people were healthy and well?

A simple solution to the nation’s health crisis is to promote simple health information that helps people live healthier lives. The health section on this platform will promote public health information so that people have knowledge awareness to avoid ill health and prevent diseases.

Health awareness and information tends to be episodic and crisis related. Useful information is often cardboard dry unpalatable titbits of repeat sermons to the converted. This site will seek to highlight emerging important health issues.

Information on this site is non-medical and at no point should it be construed as medical advice.

At the same time, good health begins with self-awareness of body and mind to know when something might be wrong for early effective treatment. This site will constantly encourage people who feel unwell to approach medical practitioners as early as possible and be treated at a point when recovery is almost assured.

The World Health Organization (WHO) country disease outlook (2023) shows the four leading causes of death in the Kingdom to be:

  • a high burden of communicable and non-communicable disease (NCDs), with the latter making up 46% of deaths in 2019.
  • 199,947 people receiving antiretroviral therapy in 2021 and has made strong progress towards achieving the 95-95-95 goals for HIV, reaching 93-98-98 in 2021.
  • Has not yet met the 90% target coverage rates for vaccination in children, reaching 77% with the third dose of DTP-containing vaccine and 80% with the first dose of measles-containing vaccine in 2021.

These issues will be the bellringers for the issues to be reflected on this platform. Healthy reading.
