MBABANE (19 NOVEMBER 2025): The liquidation of the distressed investment company, Ecsponent, the South African investment company that sank with about E340 million and ruined the lives of hundreds of emaSwati has hit another snag.
A South African financial publication, MoneyWeb says an Ecsponent investor and alleged creditor in the previously JSE-listed specialist financial services company now named Afristrat Investment Holdings, has thrown a spanner in the works of the company’s planned voluntary liquidation.
Pretoria pensioner Mariana de Bruin has applied to intervene and become a respondent in Afristrat’s voluntary liquidation application, resulting in the matter being removed from the court roll until her intervention application is finalised.
This is not the first time that the Ecsponent liquidation process has hit the rocks. It was only revived in March after an associated company paid a former client E433,000 which enabled the liquidation to proceed.
